Dear Homeschooling Mom:
When we ended our fall semester this December, I
was absolutely tired of homeschooling. Never is all these many years of
homeschooling have I been so weary of flashcards, spelling words and
listening to a child read to me!! Just the thought of being eight months
pregnant when Rebekah graduated made me feel tired and cross. In short, I
had a horrible attitude for the ministry that Jesus has given me.
On January 1, our precious unborn child, Randi,
went to the arms of Jesus. Now while I DO NOT believe that Jesus called
this child home because I had a bad attitude, I do know that this
homeschooling Mom needed a reminder of just how precious our role in life
is. Now I would love to have the joy and opportunity to teach Randi his or
her colors, the states and capitals and how to drive!
A close friend says not to look at life and
homeschooling in terms of the current 20 minutes but in terms of the next 20
years. Each child and each minute of homeschooling is so precious. So
whether we are having a bad school day or one of the few perfect ones,
let us remember that we are spending our time doing exactly what Jesus wants
us to do at this exact moment!
