We sincerely wish to be of service to you as you investigate home education.
There are a great number of advantages to membership in SVHE as well. Here
are several important and helpful items for your review and reference:
Kansas
Homeschooling Legalities: Is home schooling "legal" in Kansas? What are the
requirements?
Curriculum options: How does one choose curriculum? Here is an
excellent list of options and recommendations.
A
checklist for getting started
Join SVHE: Just download an
application form, fill it out and bring it to
the next meeting!
Register your school with the State Board of Education: Registration is
required once. There is no fee. Provide only the information
required.
Join HSLDA (Home School Legal
Defense Association): Membership in HSLDA is not mandatory, but is highly
encouraged. HSLDA is a reputable organization which advocates for home
education on a national and state level. It is relatively inexpensive and
does provide legal defense in case your home school is questioned.
Sample
letter to withdraw your child from the public school. You will
need to formally notify the school that your child will be withdrawn from school
and will be attending a private, non-accredited school. This is a sample
letter you can modify as needed.
Sample letter/form to request records be transferred. This
helpful form will allow you to obtain your child's records for your
documentation.
