I am officially accepting enrollment for Classical Conversations. The deadline for enrollment is July 20th. (You can join any time throughout the year, but this is the recommended deadline for the fall.) We are offering classes in Foundations and are also looking for interest in the Essentials class. Foundations will be meeting Thursday mornings at 9:15 am to noon and is for ages 4-12 yrs. We would break for a hour lunch, recreation and socialization, then those enrolled in Essentials, ages 9-12 yrs will meet from 1 pm to 3 pm. Here is the link for enrollment:enrollment page
I am also looking for tutors for Foundations and Essentials. I will need 2 full time Foundations tutors, with 2 that are willing to be a sub or pick up a class if our group grows. We have a max of 9 kids per class, plus parents are to attend with their children. I would like to have one teacher for Essentials and I will be trained as a sub. We can have up to 16 kids in Essentials. Foundation tutors get 60% of tuition and Essential tutors get 70% of tuition. There is mandatory training to tutor and it takes maybe a hour/wk of preparation for class. If you are interested in being a tutor, let me know.
If you are interested in CC, but not sure what it looks like, there is going to be a Foundations and possibly an Essentials class demonstration in Junction City June 12th at 10 am to noon at First Southern Baptist.
There is going to be a free 3 day practicum in Wichita for those interested. You do not have to participate in CC to attend. If you are just interested in Classical learning and how to implement it into your own homeschool, feel free to attend. They are also offering kids educational camps during the practicum. If you are playing or have an interest in playing basketball this year
please plan on attending this important meeting. I would also like to have all
coaches attend this meeting.
I will be making some exciting announcements involving events and
fundraisers as well as opportunities for parents to volunteer to assist in
making this season a great success. We will also discuss practice times and
locations that I am proposing.

**SPEEDWAY CONCESSIONS FUND-RAISER - Unfortunately this will cause some to miss the Ice Cream Social. A separate email will be sent to the basketball participants to get all slots filled for this fund-raising event.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: **SALINA CHRISTIAN ACADEMY CLASSES: An email was sent out earlier this summer announcing that through a partnership with SCA, members of SVHE would be able to enroll in individual classes. If you are interested in enrolling or would like more information please contact the school directly at 785-452-9929. You may also explore the school on the web at www.salinachristianacademy.org. Please keep in mind that this partnership with SCA simply means that SVHE is facilitating the opportunity for members of SVHE to enroll children in SCA classes and that the enrollment process, fees, etc is strictly a direct relationship between and SVHE member family and Salina Christian Academy. SECRETARY POSITION JOB DESCRIPTION: Nomination and election is the same as the other officers. All officers: A. Must sign the statement attached signifying that they agree with all parts of SVHE’s Statement of Faith and Statement of Purpose. B. Must have privately home educated his or her child(ren) for at least three consecutive years by the time their term of office begins. C. Must regularly be involved in a local fellowship or church or actively seeking a new church home. D. Must have been a member of SVHE for three consecutive years by the time their term of office begins. The Secretary may be male or female. Term of office is one year, but the secretary may be re- elected an unlimited number of terms. Responsibilities include: Take minutes of each duly-called SVHE meeting and Advisory Council Meeting and provide copies to the other members of the Advisory Council. A copy of both meetings minutes (Advisory Council and general SVHE meetings) will also be provided to the website administrator for posting on the SVHE website. A copy of each meeting’s minutes will also be brought to the monthly business meetings for review as needed. Should there be items from the Advisory Council meetings of a personal, negative or disciplinary nature, these will not be publicized on the website nor be distributed to the group at large. (These topics are appropriately dealt with in “Executive Session” during the meetings and are thus not available to the general membership
